High refrigerant properties of hydrocarbons

Kryon ® 600a (isobutane refrigeration) is a HC hydrocarbon belonging to the alkane series. Hydrocarbons are refrigerants composed exclusively of carbon and hydrogen atoms; these compounds are already naturally present in the atmosphere and therefore do not represent a risk from an environmental point of view.

Kryon ® 600a, like all hydrocarbons, is a flammable gas, and there are safety issues regarding its use but, thanks to its high thermodynamic properties, its use requires reduced refrigerant charges. This very low quantity required (a few grams) makes Kryon ® 600a perfectly safe and extremely performing.

Furthermore, gas requires the use of mineral-type oils in the compressors of the refrigeration units, which avoids the humidity problems associated with the use of synthetic lubricants.

Applications:

Kryon ® 600a is used in commercial refrigeration: counters and cold rooms, ice making machines, vending machines and refrigerated warehouses.

Kryon ® 600a is also used in domestic refrigeration: freezers and domestic coolers.

Performance:

• The absence of potentially ozone-depleting substances has allowed the progressive affirmation of Kryon ® 600a not only as a working fluid for refrigeration systems, but also as a gas for the production of insulating foams for refrigeration machines
• Thanks to its thermodynamic characteristics, Kryon ® 600a requires a reduced gas charge in the systems; this mitigates the dangers associated with flammability

Recommended Lubricants:

Kryon ® 600a requires the use of mineral oils, which avoids the humidity problems associated with the use of synthetic lubricants.
