Description

Opteon™ XL20 (R-454C) is a mildly flammable refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) below 150 designed to replace R-404A and R-22 in new systems.

Opteon™ XL20 is a low GWP hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerant that provides an optimum balance of properties for R-404A and R-22 replacement in volumetric direct expansion commercial and industrial systems operating at low and medium temperatures.

Opteon™ XL20 offers similar performance to OEM refrigerants, making it easy and cost-effective to apply to new systems without requiring significant modifications.

Rated as mildly flammable (ISO/ASHRAE Class 2L), it allows for much higher refrigerant charges than other more flammable refrigerants and can be used safely in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Thanks to the GWP of 148, Opteon™ XL20 remains below the limit of 150 imposed by the F-Gas 517/2014 and Eco-design regulations and is therefore suitable for use in hermetically sealed systems.

Since Opteon™ XL20 is a mildly flammable refrigerant (class 2L) it is recommended to consult national regulations and standards such as PED, EN 378 or ISO 5149 in order to verify the allowable charge, equipment characteristics and handling requirements safe in relation to the application for which it is intended.
